The Ascension Lutheran Church Women of the ELCA held its monthly meeting at 9:30 a.m. March 10.

Guenthner highlighted the food safety workshop that was conducted by Jane Samuelson on Feb. 10. Irene Anderson and Guenthner will serve as committee on food safety. Samuelson will put together a kitchen manual. It was suggested by Rosalyn Fossum that the food safety committee meet with the kitchen committee to inventory and list items that will need to be replaced to meet food safety specifications.

In correspondence, there was an invitation from Trinity Lutheran Church of Albert Lea for a salad luncheon at noon April 3 with the program given by Joanne Brown and her cow bell ministry. This is the final year for the triennial theme, “Renew, Respond, Rejoice.” This year the women rejoice that they are all children of God and also this year they will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in American. The Rev. Sarah Nietz from the Minnesota Lutheran of rural Goodhue will present the program.

In new business a motion was made by Carol Rask and seconded by Alice Jensen that the group responds from Ascension WELCA with an offering to Blue Earth River Conference.

Alice Jensen and Marilyn Danielsen will lead the salad luncheon part of the event.

Bible study Tuesday leaders meetings, on the first Thursday of the month, will be at 4:30 p.m. next month instead of 7:30 p.m.

Discussion was held on circle offerings in which each circle will discuss and bring back for the next meeting. Also suggested for the annual WELCA offering envelope to also show an education piece with a message as to projects. Danielsen announced the aebleskiver supper which is scheduled for 4 to 7 p.m. April 14. Volunteer helpers are asked to call Danielsen, Jan Hickman or Staci Waltman.
