RSVP is a helpful and local program

I wanted to write to call attention to a valuable resource here in Freeborn County. Recently the Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce had a project that required more hands than our limited staff could supply.

We turned to Senior Resources of Freeborn County and its Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, for help. Pat Stumme, director of the Southern Tri-County RSVP, was quick to respond to our call for assistance.

Pat provided a total of 11 volunteers over a two-day period to assist us with this project. I won’t use their names since I didn’t ask permission, but I have to say that they were amazing. This particular task was tedious and involved more than 7,000 pieces of printed material. Each of those pieces needed to be handled individually.

When we called, we were hopeful that the volunteers would get one-half to two-thirds done over those two days. They not only did that, but they finished the job! All the while, they were unfailingly pleasant and a true joy to have in our office.

I know that Pat has an extensive list of volunteers and that they do great work in the community, but I am not sure that it is common knowledge that they are available to help. We are truly fortunate to have Senior Resources of Freeborn County, and particularly RSVP, available to all of us.
