ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Transportation has picked a Wisconsin firm to build the foundation of the new St. Croix Crossing south of Stillwater.

Jon Chiglo, MnDOT’s project director for the bridge, said Edward Kraemer and Sons of Plain, Wis., won the bidding Monday with a bid of about $36.7 million.

Foundation work will start next month and be completed in early summer 2014.
