Viola Rynerson, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Viola P. Rynerson of Albert Lea, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske and the Rev. David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in Hayward Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Viola died on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community’s health care wing. She was 94.

Viola was born May 20, 1918, to Fredrick and Ruth (Nelson) Rupp in Bruno. She attended schools in both the Bruno and Hayward communities, graduating from Bruno High School in 1937. She married Alfred Carl Rynerson on Nov. 9, 1938, in Northwood. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Bruno to help Viola’s parents run the Rupp farm. It was there that their sons Roger Wilhelm and David Wayne were born. They moved back to Albert Lea in 1945, Viola studied for and earned her licensed practical nursing license, she worked for Naeve Hospital and Cornick’s Nursing Home. She retired in 1980 to care for her husband and her mother. In 1992 she moved into the Senior Tower apartments and was active in the kitchen, Sunshine Club and caring for her neighbors. Viola valued hard work and was always busy whether it was on the farm, in the home or at work. She enjoyed baking bread, doughnuts, lefse and cookies for her family, gardening, sewing, needlepoint and other crafts. Most of all Viola loved her Lord, her family and her friends and was continually grateful for the blessings in her life.

Viola will be lovingly remembered by her children Roger (Pat) Rynerson and David (Mary) Rynerson, seven grandchildren Tami (Glenn) Boyer, Ron (Nadine) Rynerson, Celeste (Nate) Eggum, Jody Ahrendt, Brad (Cheryl) Rynerson, Wendy (Casey) Tompkins and Wanda (Pierce) Smith, a special nephew Dean (Charlene) Anderson, 19 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alfred, sister Shirley Bendickson, Alfred’s parents Rymert and Clara Rynerson, special friend Alvin Gaines, niece Deann Michaelis, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A grandma is a blessing from heaven above, with a heart full of kindness, compassion and love.
