The Albert Lea National Guard reunion for past and present members of Company G, Company A and Company D and guests will be from 1 to 5 p.m. April 27 at the Albert Lea American Legion. It is encouraged that participants bring photos to share.

The Albert Lea National Guard was first activated as part of the buildup for World War II on Feb. 10, 1941.

The 34th Infantry Red Bull division is currently ranked No. 1 of the eight National Guard divisions with regard to key readiness indicators.

Most recently in May 2011 the unit was deployed in support of Operation New Dawn to Kuwait and Iraq, the second largest deployment since World War II.
