ST. PAUL — A lone railcar made an inaugural run along the central corridor light rail line that connects Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The railcar wasn’t running on its own power, so a railcar mover pulled the car along the track from Minneapolis to St. Paul on Sunday morning so crews could work to verify clearance.

The railcar moved faster than expected, making the trip in about five hours instead of the estimated eight to 12.

When the train is operating, the 11-mile route will take 39 minutes.

The Metropolitan Council said the project is 92 percent complete and is expected to open for riders sometime next year.
