Mark enjoyed playing many sports and he played them well when he was young. He played baseball, golf, hockey, football and was a pretty good wrestler. When he was in seventh grade he made his choice to play hockey as his main sport. He was captain of his high school team as well as captain of the Eau Claire Bluegold hockey team. He played four years for the Bluegolds. After college he became pretty serious about his golf game and he was actually a good golfer even if he was “standing on the wrong side of the ball,” a quote from a gentleman from Scotland whose home course was St. Andrews. He stayed in touch with several friends from Albert Lea and his college buddies who were located in the metro area.
