St. John’s Auxiliary
St. John’s Auxiliary met at 2 p.m. April 15 in St. Johns’ chapel. President Caroline Sorenson welcomed everyone. Devotions were given by the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister. Becky Nordland led the group on piano in singing “I Know My Redeemer Lives” and “Jesus the Very Thought of You.”
Carla Reichel, in the absence of the treasurer, gave that report. She also, as volunteer coordinator, reported more than 1,100 hours for February and March. Day care had 16 hours, there were four You & Me clubs, one sing along and 27 children participated in the Razzle Dazzle Parade.
Activities Director Shirley Leeman reported on activities for the residents for May as follows: music on May 2 by John Ulland, May 3 Johnny Bird, May 7 LA Sasse, May 9 Hans the Accordion Man, May 10 Robert Coates, May 17 Loren Wolfe, May 21 Richard Hagedorn, May 22 Chris Von Axx, May 24 Kent Larsen, May 30 Chester Proctor and on May 31 Mike Prestby’s magic show. Gardening will also start in May, weather permitting. Cemetery visits for Memorial Day will be on May 27.
Vice President Jan Jerdee read the names of residents celebrating April birthdays. Everyone sang “Happy Birthday.”
Churches thanked for serving Sunday coffee were Central Freeborn, Round Prairie Lutheran, West Freeborn Lutheran, Cross of Glory of Hartland, Bethlehem Lutheran, Emmons Lutheran and Redeemer Lutheran.
The program was provided by Christ Episcopal with Gail Thurnau on piano and vocalist Mary Wayne. They presented love songs from different musicals.
Refreshments were provided by second floor north and the St. John’s Dietary Department.
The meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.
