You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Volunteer drivers: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers — one or more days a week. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive training. Call Senior Resources at 377-7433 for additional information and to volunteer.
First aid kits: Reminder — spring brings graduations, confirmations and gifting showers of all kinds. By giving the RSVP first aid kits you are also helping the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. Just ask at Senior Resources, Skyline Plaza, Albert Lea, for the RSVP just-right size first aid kits equipped for your outdoor person, traveler or home emergencies. The modest $10 purchase price also makes a welcome donation to RSVP.
Albert Lea Art Center: Visitors at the Art Center enjoy their time there with you as the host or hostess for the Family Heirlooms and Collectibles Gallery show 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday from now through May 24. Two openings are available for volunteering in the Art on Broadway gift shop during the same times. Please call the Art Center at 373-5665 to sign up.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
