MINNEAPOLIS — The trial for a Minneapolis father accused of negligently storing a gun that led to the death of his son is winding down.

Closing arguments are expected Thursday in Hennepin County District Court where Kao Chongsua Xiong is charged with felony manslaughter and child endangerment. Prosecutors allege Xiong was negligent for leaving the loaded gun between the pillow and headboard of a bed where his children were playing.

Two-year-old Neegnco Xiong was accidentally shot by his 4-year-old brother last December while their parents were making lunch downstairs.

Xiong sobbed uncontrollably in court Wednesday as photos of the toddler were shown to the jury. He regained his composure after a short break and waived his right to testify.
