Q: What year are you in school?
A: Junior
Q: What school do you attend?
A: Albert Lea
Q: Who is your immediate family?
A: My mom and dad are Susan and Dirk DeVries. I have a brother, Derik, 20 and a sister, April, 22.
Q: What sports are you involved in?
A: Track and field and soccer.
Q: What is your favorite part of competing in track and field?
A: With throwing, it’s a lot of strength training. There’s a lot of technique to it. It’s a little more complicated than running around the track.
Q: How did you get started in track and field?
A: My brother ran track in high school. I did track in junior high. Then, I played softball my freshman and sophomore year. I came back to track this year.
Q: What sports did your family members play?
A: My brother played football and track.
Q: What are your sports-related achievements?
A: In track, I’ve hit 30 feet in the shot put. In soccer, I’ve lettered three times.
Q: What are your sports-related goals?
A: I want to hit 30 feet again in shot put. In discus I want to hit 90 feet. In the shot put, I’m 17th, in the conference. I’m hoping to get in the top 15.
Q: What are your college plans?
A: I’m not quite sure, but I like Bemidji State. I want to play soccer there and major in photography.
Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete?
Why?
A: Hope Solo. She’s a soccer player.
Q: What is your favorite school subject?
A: Math.
Q: Who is your favorite teacher?
A: Kevin Gentz, my math teacher. He teaches pre-calculus, calculus and I think he does supportive algebra.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: I want to be a professional photographer for Cosmopolitan magazine.
Q: What is your favorite TV show?
A: “Game of Thrones.”
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Ice cream.
Q: What is an interesting fact about you?
A: My family was on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.”
