HASTINGS — A Minnesota man has been charged with three counts of criminal vehicular homicide in connection with a crash that killed his passenger last November.

The state patrol said 27-year-old Keri James Gesme of Hampton Township was driving as fast as 106 mph when his pickup truck went airborne on Highway 50 and struck a tree. Gesme and 27-year-old Dennis Paul Underwood were ejected.

Underwood, of Cannon Falls, died.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom said Gesme’s relatives told authorities he had been drinking since the morning of the crash. Backstrom says Gesme had a blood-alcohol level of .20.

Gesme is not in custody. He did not have a listed home phone number and could not be reached for comment. A warrant was issued Friday for his arrest.
