Albert Lea’s comeback fell short by one run Tuesday at Owatonna.

The Tigers lost 2-1 in a Big Nine Conference battle.

In the top of the third, Albert Lea loaded the bases with one out. However, two pop-ups ended the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Owatonna scored its only runs of the game.

In the fifth, a run scored by Haley Harms cut the Tigers’ deficit to one point. But, Albert Lea was unable to tie the game.

Harms pitched for the Tigers. She allowed three fewer hits than Owatonna’s pitcher and didn’t allow an earned run.

Megan Kortan led Albert Lea offensively. She was three of four at the plate.

Next, Albert Lea will play its final game of the regular season at home against Byron at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
