With a 6-5 win over Bethlehem Academy Friday at home, the United South Central baseball team clinched the title for the south division of the Gopher Conference.
“The last two wins have been huge for our program,” USC head coach Pat Frank said. “It’s good to be on a winning streak headed into sections.”
The Rebels have won five of their last six games. The last two have been against quality competition. Mankato Loyola and Bethlehem Academy have a combined record of 22-9.
USC stayed composed after trailing 4-0 in the first inning. The Rebels countered with four runs in the second, and they added two more in the fifth.
Steve Voigt earned the win on the mound for USC. He struck out two batters in three innings.
