The Albert Lea baseball team lost a Big Nine Conference game Friday at Rochester John Marshall 12-2.
The Rockets scored eight runs in the second inning to take the momentum.
“We walked eight batters in the second. It’s tough to come back from that,” Albert Lea head coach Joe Sczublewski said. “But, we hit the ball well and made some plays in the field.”
Albert Lea fought back with one run in the fourth inning and another in the fifth. In the fourth inning, Makael Lunning reached first base on an error and stole second. He scored on a hit by Chris Enderson. In the fifth, Zach Bordewick scored on a hit by Derek Burkard.
However, Rochester John Marshall maintained its lead to secure the win.
The loss snapped the Tigers’ four-game winning streak, which started April 30.
Albert Lea is 6-3 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
Next, the Tigers play a doubleheader at Bell Field against Faribault at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
