Virgil Sickels, 67, Mason City

Funeral services for Virgil Dale Sickels, 67, of Mason City, were at 1:30 p.m Wednesday at St. Theodore Catholic Church. The Rev. Timothy Reker and Deacon Mike Ellis officiated. Interment was in the St. Theodore Cemetery. Visitation was from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Virgil died on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Virgil Dale Sickels was born on April 25, 1946, in Albert Lea, the son of Virgil E. and Dorothy M. (Dylla) Sickels-Ofstedal. He grew up in Albert Lea and attended Albert Lea High School. After high school Virgil worked at various jobs before going to work at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa. He worked there for several years and then became a cabinet maker, working for Fieldstone/Woodharbor in Northwood. He was retired from Fieldstone/Woodharbor. Virgil was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mason City. He enjoyed fishing and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Blessed be his memory.

Survivors include his children, Dawn (Terry) Evans of Royal, Iowa, and Rebecca (Arthur) White of Mason City; grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, Hailey, Kelsea and Dustin; great-granddaughter, Jaidyn; sister, Shirley Haugen; brother, Wayne (Charmaine) Sickels; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Bobby Sickels.
