You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with these or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources at 377-7433.
Farmers market: Volunteers for Market Days will help children experience growing food, sample produce and take steps for healthy living. Contact Verlys Huntley at 507-297-5546 to help this project grow beginning May 15 through Oct. 31.
Older Americans and bicycle safety: Let’s all be safe this spring. May is designated nationally as Older American’s Month and Bike Safety Month. These are not mutually exclusive. It’s important for drivers and bike riders of all ages to continually scan the roads in front, to the rear and to the sides. Drivers are required, when passing a bicyclist, to allow at least three feet between the side of your car and the bicyclist.
RSVP first aid kits: Reminder, spring brings graduations, confirmations and gifting showers of all kinds. When you give the RSVP first aid kits, you are also helping the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. Come to Senior Resources in the Skyline Plaza for the RSVP just-right size first aid kits equipped for your outdoor person, traveler or home emergencies. The modest $10 purchase price includes a welcome donation to RSVP.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funds through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
