MINNEAPOLIS — Hennepin County is proposing a county-wide plan to improve pedestrian safety, increase opportunities for walking and improve residents’ health.
Hennepin County already has bicycle, roadway and transit plans. County officials say Hennepin County is the first county in Minnesota to come up with a comprehensive pedestrian plan as part of its transportation system.
The plan includes expanding sidewalks and trail networks, and improving pedestrian connections to transit options.
The county has posted a draft of its pedestrian plan online and is asking the public to weigh in through July 15.
The plan will be presented to the County Board for approval this summer.
