HAM LAKE — Authorities have released the names of two people killed in a fiery crash in Ham Lake.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office said Richard McGill and Deanna McGill, both 71 and from Stacy, died when their car collided with a sport utility vehicle Wednesday.
The SUV driver, 33-year-old Jay Mottley of Maplewood, was extricated from his burning vehicle. He was in critical condition Thursday at Hennepin County Medical Center.
A former paramedic was driving his tanker truck and was the first to come upon the scene. Dalen Johnson spotted Mottley’s burning SUV and used a fire extinguisher from his rig to try to put out the flames.
Police arrived and were able to keep the flames under control until the fire department arrived.
