Lake Mills girls beat Garner-Hayfield/Ventura

The Lake Mills softball team beat Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 13-11 Monday to win its second straight game.
Both teams exploded with six runs in the first inning, and by the end of the third, the Bulldogs led 12-7.
The Cardinals cut their deficit to one run in the top of the fifth, but Lake Mills held on for the win.
“It was wild and crazy,” Lake Mills head coach Rick Orban said. “The good news is that we are hitting the ball and scoring runs.”
Sarah Orban led the Bulldogs at the plate with three hits and three RBIs.
Emily Orban pitched all seven innings. She struck out seven batters and walked three.
After starting the season 0-2, the Bulldogs worked their way back to .500 at 3-3 overall.
Lake Mills is 2-0 in the North Iowa Conference.
The Bulldogs host Forest City at 6 p.m. today.
