Lake Mills softball team pounds Rockford

The Lake Mills softball team rebounded from Monday’s 14-run loss to North Iowa by crushing Rockford 14-0 on Tuesday.
“It was nice to win this game and get back on track,” Lake Mills head coach Rick Orban said.
The Bulldogs got progressively better through the game.
Through the fourth inning, Lake Mills built a 3-1 lead. In the fifth, the Bulldogs added three runs, four more in the sixth and five in the seventh.
The Bulldogs were led defensively by Emily Orban, who pitched a one-hitter. She struck out five batters and didn’t allow any walks.
At the plate, Lake Mills was led by Katlyn Eidness and Cede Byrnes.
“Katlyn and Cede each had two hits and 4 RBIs,” Coach Orban said. “The middle of our lineup produced 11 runs.”
Sarah Orban scored a game-high four runs.
The Bulldogs are one game below .500 with an overall record of 7-8, and a North Iowa Conference record of 3-4.
The Bulldogs will have a chance to break even in their next game at conference foe Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 6 p.m. today.
The Cardinals are 1-15 overall, and their last meeting with the Bulldogs was a 13-11 loss.
