Legion earns victory

The Albert Lea/Austin American Legion baseball team improved to 5-6 with an 18-8 win Thursday over the Rochester A’s.
Albert Lea/Austin responded to a 2-0 deficit in the first inning by pouring in seven runs in the second.
“Through the next three innings we scored 14 unanswered runs,” Albert Lea/Austin head coach Bob Stratton said. “We hit the ball well and had good pitching.”
Marcus Stoulil led Albert Lea/Austin from the mound. He pitched the entire game and struck out four batters. Stoulil also led off in the top of the sixth inning and hit a home run over the center field fence.
Gabe Kasak led Albert Lea/Austin with three hits, and he tied Jacob Kempen with a team-high four RBIs.
Albert Lea/Austin is 5-6 on the season. Next, it will play at Rochester John Marshall in a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
