Margaret I. Syverson, 97, of Blue Earth, died Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with the Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Margaret was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Nels and Augusta (Swanson) Peterson. She was raised in Freeborn County where she attended school in Emmons. Margaret was married to Stanley H. Syverson on June 7, 1935, in Northwood. She worked at Blue Earth Hospital for more than 50 years. She earned her GED from high school at the age of 56 and was proud to earn her licensed practical nurse from nursing school at the same time. She continued as an lpn at the Blue Earth Hospital until her retirement in 2002. Margaret was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in Circle, ladies’ aid and quilting group. She was a lifelong member of the VFW Auxiliary and was a color bearer.
Margaret is survived by her daughters, Joanne (Kay) Anderson of Mahtomedi and Lois (Gary) Schock of Rapid City, S.D. Also surviving are six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her her parents; husband in 1973; two sisters; and four brothers.
