Albert Lea park staff opened the gate Wednesday to the entrance of the western portion of Bancroft Bay Park. The park area had been closed since early May, shortly after a snowstorm dumped a foot of snow in Albert Lea, causing damage to trees and limbs citywide. City workers and a contractor had been clearing broken branches and weakened trees over the past few weeks.
