Richard Fisher, 71, Alden

Funeral services for Richard W. Fisher, of Alden will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Greg Ofsdahl will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. Interment will be at Immanuel Methodist Cemetery in Blue Earth following the funeral service.
Richard “Dick” Fisher died on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community. He was 71 years old.
Richard was born on Sept. 22, 1941, in Des Moines, Iowa. His family later moved to Alden. He was confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Richard was a high school graduate of Alden High School. Upon graduation, Richard went to work for Ventura Foods, where he was a forklift operator for more than 35 years. In his free time, he also liked to help out by working for farmers in the area.
Richard enjoyed many things in life. He was an avid fisherman, liked to camp and enjoyed the outdoors. He liked to watch sports on the television. In his later years, Richard gained enjoyment from playing bingo and joining a bowling league. Most of all, Richard loved his family members, and all of the family get-togethers that took place each year.
Richard is survived by his sisters, Joyce (David) Swanson of Glenville and Judy Carlson of Albert Lea; uncles, Harold (Muriel) Fisher of Minneapolis and Milburn (Phyllis) Nelson of Albert Lea; aunt, Erma Nelson of Albert Lea; nephews, Larry (Delores) Doyle, Kevin Doyle and friend Chris and Justin Doyle and friend Vicki; nieces, Lonna (Doug) Schroeder, Tammy (Jeremy) Hall and Tiffany Carlson and friend Justin; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and other loving relatives.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roger and Jerry; brother-in-law, Larry Carlson; as well as several other aunts and uncles.
