MINNEAPOLIS — A 5-year-old boy is in serious condition after falling through a fourth-floor window screen to the ground outside a north Minneapolis apartment.

Police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer said the child was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center after the fall about 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The hospital said Tuesday afternoon that the boy was in serious condition.

A neighbor said the boy landed on the grass.

Fourth Precinct Police Inspector Michael Kjos urged parents to alert their children to the dangers of open windows.
