Claret Jensen, 99, of Watertown, S.D., died on Monday, June 3, 2013, at Jenkins Living Center in Watertown. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel in Watertown. The Rev. Dennis Hansen of Grace Lutheran Church will officiate. Harvey Bue will play a clarinet solo and A.J. Sherrill will be the organist. Visitation will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Wight, Comes & Sogn Funeral Chapel and on Saturday prior to the services. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Graceland Cemetery in Albert Lea.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to the Endowment Fund at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 Second St. S.E., Watertown, S.D., 57201.

Claret Geolina Fern Jensen was born on July 4, 1913, to Christian and Emma (Ellingson) Quammen in Camp Release near Montevideo. She was baptized on Aug. 10, 1913, in St. Pertri Congregation and confirmed on June 28, 1928, at Grace Lutheran Church in Watertown. After finishing her school she worked at various jobs prior to her marriage to Soren Jensen on June 26, 1936. Claret later worked at Montgomery Ward for 25 years before retiring in 1975.

Claret was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 35 years and was active in many other roles.

She enjoyed gardening, children, handiwork, cooking and baking and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Claret is survived by her sisters, Doris Ruth Garms of Omaha, Neb., and Viola Board of Watertown; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Soren, on Jan. 18, 1982; her son, Lee Soren, on Oct. 15, 1951; two brothers Earl and Oliver; and six sisters Beatrice, Coyla, Elvina, Bernice, Jean and Avenell.
