Eudene Behr, 94, Conger

Eudene Lucille Behr, 94, of Conger, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and continue one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Daphne Hamborg and the Rev. Jeff Lager-Hagemeister will officiate and burial will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery Bear Lake. Please see www.brussheitner.com to leave online condolences. Eudene Behr

Eudene Lucille Behr was born on May 18, 1919, at her home in Freeborn County, the daughter of Reuben Edgar and Dorathea (Schmidt) Johnson. She was baptized June 15, 1919, and confirmed on Aug. 6, 1933, at Grace (Redeemer) Lutheran Church, Alden (Confirmation verse: He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved). She attended and graduated from Alden High School on May 28, 1936. She was united in marriage on Oct. 3, 1940, to Ellsworth Russell Behr at the Alden Redeemer Lutheran Church. They farmed in Freeborn County all of their lives and moved to Conger in 1968. She worked at Sheehen Grocery Store, Conger Mercantile (Matticks, Dopplehamer, Hitchcock) and then at the Conger Café until she retired. She was currently a resident of Knutson Place, Albert Lea.

Eudene was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger and of Miriam and Priscilla circles and W.E.L.C.A holding a variety of offices. She belonged to the Conger Park Auxiliary, Mothers Club, Homemakers Club and Conger Senior Citizens where she held various offices in each. She was also on the Conger Centennial committee and All School Reunion held in June 2000. She enjoyed embroidering, latch hooking, gardening, playing cards, visiting with family and friends, snowmobiling, cribbage, camping and playing her accordion.

Eudene is survived by her daughter Joan (George) Templin of Mankato; sons: Delane (Darlene) Behr of Lake Mills, David Behr of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Merle (Shirley) Behr of Conger; one sister: Everall Mason of Baco Raton, Fla.; one brother Daryl (Irene) Johnson of Bloomington; sisters-in-law Betty Johnson of Albert Lea and Bernice Johnson of Rochester; six grandchildren: Todd Behr, Michael Templin, Laura Steinborn, Jarrod Behr, Janine Black and Paul Sullivan; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ellsworth; brothers Ralph and Lloyd Johnson and brother-in-law Merlin Mason.
