Albert Lea photographer Teresa Kauffmann will be holding a workshop entitled “Light Painting the National Parks.” The lecture and workshop will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Prairie Wind Coffee in downtown Albert Lea.

Kauffmann recently returned from a workshop with the Digital Photo Workshops in Washington. While there, she studied with renowned photographer, Dave Black, who teaches light painting along with photographic skills. Dave Black is most famous for his photos of Olympic athletes.

Light painting is a photographic technique in which objects are lit off frame by a handheld light source such as a flashlight or spotlight during a long exposure.

Experienced photographers, budding photographers and interested persons are encouraged to attend this free workshop. Photographers will have the opportunity to try light painting a table top display and are encouraged to bring their own SD or compact flash card if they’d like to save their work.

Examples of Kauffmann’s light painting work will be on display at Prairie Wind Coffee throughout the month of August.
