Puckerbrush Days starts Thursday in Forest City

FOREST CITY, Iowa — Puckerbrush Days are here. Celebrations kick off Thursday morning with biscuits, sausage and country gravy and continue throughout the weekend ending with a performance of the “Murder on 11th Street” at the Salveson Hall Ballroom.

The Boy Scouts will have a snack shack open on the courthouse lawn Thursday, Friday and Saturday. HP Steel Wheel Cafe will host a breakfast Thursday and Friday, then the American Legion will have a pancake breakfast Saturday morning. Sunday there will be a flight breakfast at the municipal airport.

There’s a kids parade Friday and the Rootin’ Tootin’ West parade Saturday. The Mt. Valley Winery will host two live bands, Flashback on Friday and Five Friends on Saturday. The crowning of Mr. and Mrs. Puckerbrush will occur on Friday, and the Tot Trot will be Saturday morning.

“Murder on 11th Street” will be performed Saturday and Sunday at Salveson Hall Ballroom. There will be fireworks Saturday night and many other festivities.

5-9 p.m.: After hours craft fair

5-7 p.m.: Color Guard brat and burger feed on Clark Street

8-11 p.m.: Middle school pool party w/DJ at Forest City Aquatic Center

 

Friday

7-11 a.m.: Pancakes or waffles at HP Steel Wheel Cafe

11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Salad luncheon at ILC

5-7 p.m.: Lions corn and pork feed on South Clark Street

5-6:30 p.m.: Free watermelon on the courthouse lawn

5 p.m.-close: Boy Scout snack shack on the courthouse lawn

5-7 p.m.: Ice cream social on the courthouse lawn

5-7 p.m.: Pre-register for 5k/1k/Tot Trot at Salveson

5:15 p.m.: Flag disposal ceremony on South Clark Street

5:30-7:30 p.m.: Bounce houses on the courthouse lawn

5:45 p.m.: Crowning Little Mr. and Mrs. Puckerbrush on South Clark Street

6 p.m.: Kids parade lineup at ILC parking lot
