MINNEAPOLIS – The Twins announced they placed left-handed pitcher Caleb Thielbar on the bereavement list to attend the funeral of his grandmother, according to a press release.

To replace Thielbar on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall right-handed pitcher Michael Tonkin from AAA Rochester.

Tonkin split time between AA New Britain and Rochester. In 13 appearances with the Red Wings, he was 1-0, with a 1.23 earned run average in 14.2 innings on the mound. He gave up two earned runs with three walks, 16 strikeouts and five saves. Tonkin is expected to be in uniform for today’s game at Tampa Bay. He will wear uniform number 59.
