EDEN PRAIRIE — A 56-year-old woman died in Eden Prairie after a tree fell on her, and pinned her underneath.

A basswood tree fell on the woman who was walking on a city trail in Miller Park on Friday evening. She was dead when paramedics arrived.

Police said the tree was about 90 years old and 30 inches in diameter. The tree appeared healthy, and officials are investigating why it fell. There were winds of up to 23 mph in the area at the time.
