You Can Help

The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call Pat Stumme, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Senior Resources offers fun and food with fundraiser: At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday Wedgewood Cove will host Dave and Ted’s Dueces Wild! The event is a fundraiser for Senior Resources. Tickets can be purchased at Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce, Home Federal Bank, the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau and Senior Resources. You’ll enjoy appetizers, lots of laughs and great piano fun while helping to continue funds for the resource information that Freeborn County seniors of all ages need.

Freeborn County Fair helpers: Let’s go to the Freeborn County Fair and help on Senior Day (July 31) as a wheelchair escort around the grounds with residents of St. John’s Lutheran Home. Call 473-1028 for details; there will be no cost to the volunteers and a fair pass is not required.

Reading Partners and MN Reading Corps: Children need an audience when they read aloud. Beginning Sept. 17 adults of any age can be that person who encourages a child’s success in school through increased reading skills. Call Linda Bottelson at 383-1466 for more information and to volunteer. Your presence will mean so much.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
