Aren’t there roads that need work?

I’m amazed by what we let our elected officials get away with. I’m speaking about two articles in the Wednesday, July 17, Tribune.

The first item is passage by our county commissioners of the wheelage tax. This of course is another gimmick to raise our taxes while hiding what we really pay in total taxes. I will remember the comment by Mr. Mike Lee: “I don’t think $10 is really going to break anybody,” the next time he comes up for re-election.

The second item is the offer put on the old railroad bed to Hartland. Excuse me, but we don’t even have the Blazing Star Trail completed, and we are already planning another one? When we don’t even have enough tax money coming in to keep our roads and bridges repaired. Why are we building more bike trails?
