MINNEAPOLIS — An attorney for fired Minnesota Senate operative Michael Brodkorb has withdrawn from his wrongful termination case after a document was mistakenly filed in public.

The court was notified Thursday that Phil Villaume and his firm are withdrawing. Greg Walsh remains Brodkorb’s attorney.

Brodkorb was fired from his job as Senate GOP’s communications director after his affair with then-Senate Majority Leader Amy Koch became public in December 2011. He alleges discrimination, saying female staffers who had affairs weren’t fired.

Last month, Brodkorb’s attorneys misfiled a document listing alleged affairs by other staffers and lawmakers. It was supposed to be sealed.

Brodkorb said he and Villaume agreed on Villaume’s departure and didn’t want the error by Villaume’s office to distract from the case’s merits. Villaume didn’t return messages seeking comment.
