Private graveside services for Carl R. Tusen, of Albert Lea, were on Tuesday at Graceland Cemetery. Military honors were accorded.

Carl died on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was 70.

He was born on Sept. 7, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Carl H. and Ellen F. (Pomeroy) Tusen.

Carl served the country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966.

He married Katherine Hoeve and they had a son Robert Allen. Katherine and Robert died in a house fire in 1973.

Carl worked at Owatonna Canning Co. for many years and later retired.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and watching football and baseball.

He is survived by sister, Ruth (David) Kenevan of Albert Lea, brother, David (Janis) Tusen of Norman, Okla., sister, Susan Zabel of Lake Mills; brother, Gregg Tusen of Albert Lea; as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Katherine; and son, Robert Allen.
