Elmer Lindeman, 96, Conger

Funeral services for Elmer Lindeman, 96, formerly of Conger will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daphne Hamborg will officiate. Interment will be at Bear Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by local servicemen’s organizations, VFW and American Legion. Visitation will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.

Elmer died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community.

Elmer Lindeman was born on April 23, 1917, to Erick and Alvina (Schoenrock) Lindeman on the family farm in Pickerel Lake Township. He attended country school, District 42. On Aug. 17, 1941, Elmer was united in marriage to LaVerna E. Kruger in Albert Lea. In April of 1942, Elmer was drafted into the United States Army Air Force. He was stationed in Texas as an airplane maintenance tech. Elmer was a life-long resident of the Conger area. He served on city council and served as city clerk, was a charter member of the Conger fire department, was a member of the Alden American Legion Post No. 404 and served on church council at Bear Lake Concordia Lutheran church where he was a life-long member. Elmer was a natural born fixer; he enjoyed tinkering, gardening, fishing, playing cards and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. In his younger years he was an avid golfer. Most of all he enjoyed time spent with his family.

Survivors include his wife, LaVerna; daughter, Alvina “Dolly” (Jay) Dunbar; sons, Robert (Loleen “Dolly”) Lindeman and Allen (Carla) Lindeman; grandchildren, Tom (Susan) Dunbar, Kristi (William) Westover, Valerie (Michael) Blanton, Amanda (Tim) Korman, Joe (Randee) Lindeman and Marie (Kevin) Juveland; great-grandchildren, Emily Zettle Dunbar, Jack and Katherine Westover, Ashley and John Blanton, Brayden and Sydnee Lindeman, Kylie and Nicholas Korman and Cole, Jordan and Wade Juveland; sister, Gloria Prestegaurd; sisters-in-law, Pearl Lindeman, Betty Lindeman and Lois (Paul) Aasen; brother-in-law, Donald (Marilyn) Kruger; and many nieces and nephews.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Vernon (Berdina) Lindeman, Emery Lindeman, Raymond (June) Lindeman and Harry Lindeman; sisters, Ruby (Art) Ludtke and Bernice in infancy; brothers-in-law, Raymond Meyer, Marlowe Prestegaurd, Earl (Gladys) Kruger, Erwin (Kathy) Kruger and Paul (Marion) Kruger; and sisters-in-law, Lorene (Harold) Wright and Bernice (Ernest) Braun.
