A Minnesota House committee is scheduled to stop in Albert Lea on Thursday to talk about how economic conditions could be improved for workers in the area.

The Select Committee on Living Wage Jobs will meet at 10 a.m. at the Albert Lea City Council Chambers at City Hall, along with District 27A Rep. Shannon Savick, DFL-Wells.

Community members are encouraged to attend the meeting and share their ideas, according to a news release. The committee members will share their findings from other parts of the state.

“Our committee is about workers in Minnesota, and we want to hear directly from workers in the Albert Lea area about their jobs — what’s working and what’s not,” said Rep. Ryan Winkler, DFL-Golden Valley.

The release states legislators are looking for input on the following areas:

• How a minimum wage increase would impact families.

• If good jobs are hard to find in Albert Lea and the surrounding communities and how the job market could be improved.
