Local musicians headline shows at Entertainment Square

The Freeborn County Fair continues this week with big acts at the Grandstand and lots of local flavor at Entertainment Square. A feature on the Looney Lutheran show can be found on the Front Page of today’s edition.

 

Friday

• Musicians at Entertainment Square include Orville and Irene Goskeson at 3 p.m., Kevin Bowe and Okemah Prophets at 4 p.m., Becky Thompson and Old School at 6 p.m., Bad Monkey at 7:45 p.m., and Becky Thompson and Old School again at 9:30 p.m.

• Touch of Broadway’s Broadway Kids perform a “1940s Radio Show” at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Fairlane Building at the Freeborn County Fair. There is no admission fee for the show.

• Kenny Rogers performs at 8:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair Grandstand.

Saturday

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the North Broadway parking lot.

• Acts at Entertainment Square include magician Jim Jayes at 2 p.m., Mariachi band Del Norte at 3 p.m., Off Center at 4 p.m., The Tax Pistols band featuring Aimee Lee at 5 p.m., Professor Noisemaker at 8 p.m., Fire on the Dance Floor at 9 p.m., and Nothing More Than a Ghost at 10 p.m.

• Touch of Broadway’s Broadway Kids perform a “1940s Radio Show” at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Fairlane Building at the Freeborn County Fair. There is no admission fee for the show.

• The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center hosts the Girl Singers of the Hit Parade at 7:30 p.m. The musical revue is a salute to the great female vocalists of the 1950s. Tickets are $18.

• Chris Cagle headlines the last Grandstand show at 8:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fair.

 

Sunday

• The Alden American Legion Post 404 hosts a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, and a beverage. Cost is $5; children under age 6 eat free.

• A Sunday worship service at the fair will begin at 10 a.m. There will be free admission to the fair before 10 a.m.

• Musicians at Entertainment Square include Sent at noon and Bar Stool Cowboys with a special guest at 3 p.m.

• See local people of all ages compete in a talent show at Entertainment Square at 1:30 p.m.

• The demolition derby will start at 4 p.m. at the Grandstand.
