The Iowa Watercolor Society announced Mavis Stevens of Northwood as a participant in the 36th annual Iowa Watercolor Society juried art exhibit.

The show will be at the Ankeny Art Center, 1520 SW Ordinance Road in Ankeny, Iowa, until Sept. 26.

The opening reception was Aug. 1. The 36th annual luncheon and award ceremony will be on Sept. 8.

Stevens has been painting for more than 30 years and has studied under the direction of Richard Leet and Frank Webb. The selected painting is titled “Garden Colors.”

The 2013 juror and instructor for the annual exhibit and workshops is renowned artist Birgit O’Connor.
