These are volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Volunteer driver: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride Services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive training; call Debbie Opdahl at Senior Resources at 377-7433 to volunteer.

Getting ready for back to school: Families and students are making plans for children’s time out of school. Answers are in the Youth Activity Guide and Community Resources Booklet being distributed at the conferences/orientation for parents and students before school begins. Volunteers are needed in Alden between 7:40 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. on Sept. 3, in Albert Lea between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 30, and in Glenville on Sept. 4. Volunteers are also needed at Southwest Middle School on Sept. 3. Call Senior Resources 377-7433 to schedule your time.
