These are volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for others, call the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.

Bus rider aid: Our Headstart preschool children will be comfortable when you are on the bus helping them as they start their classroom day. Please call Daylynn Alm, Headstart director, at 379-5160 for times and days you could help smooth the way to school for these youngsters.

Respite time for caregivers: Nancy Halvorsen leads the caregivers support groups and is ready to bring you into the program providing respite time as a senior companion. Caregivers need that time to refresh. Call Halvorsen at 377-7433 for details.

Volunteer driver: You can help seniors maintain their independence when they are no longer able to drive to their appointments. Ride services of Freeborn County needs additional drivers. Drivers are reimbursed for mileage and receive training. Call Debbie Opdahl at Senior Resources, 377-7433, to volunteer.

RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
