2 people injured in Lake Mills crash

LAKE MILLS — Two people were injured Friday afternoon after a head-on crash in southeast Lake Mills.

Marcia Goodale, 69, of Joice, Iowa, was transported by Lake Mills ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Kristopher Belica, 23, of Lake Mills was transported to Mercy Hospital in Mason City. Their conditions are unknown.

According to the State Patrol, Goodale was driving south in a 2007 Chevy on South Winnebago Street when she crossed the centerline and hit Belica, driving northbound, in a 2013 Ford pickup.

The crash, which took place at 12:21 p.m., was near the intersection of South Winnebago Street and South 10th Avenue.

The State Patrol report does not state why Goodale might have crossed the centerline and states the crash remains under investigation.

Both Goodale and Belica were wearing their seat belts.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Lake Mills Police Department assisted at the scene.
