A celebration of life memorial service to honor Brenda Mae Oakland, 58, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Home, Albert Lea. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Bonnerup Funeral Service. Interment will at Graceland Cemetery and a lunch will be served at Bonnerup Funeral Service following interment. Brenda left her home on earth when she died on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, in Albert Lea. She was 58 years young.
Brenda was born Oct. 14, 1954, in Albert Lea to Alton Sr. and Alice Oakland.
She spent all her years in Albert Lea with her family and 30 years at Woodvale. She had a kind and loving spirit with a big loving heart. She loved her family and all her caregivers at Woodvale. One of her favorite activities was to watch television.
Special thanks to Dr. Boos, special nurse, Kim Kalis, and all the Woodvale staff; especially her caregivers, Tonya and Codi.
Those left to cherish her memory are her father Alton Sr. and step-mother Bev; sisters and brother-in-laws, Vickie Nelson, Denver, Karen and Mark Weidner, Allendale, N.J., Cheryl Horning, Cheshire, Conn., Mary Jo and B.A. Claussen, Tubac, Ariz., Larry (Mary) Schroader, Ron (Kim) Schrader, Del Schroader and Kari Roisen, all of Albert Lea. Brenda is also survived by 21 nieces and nephews; and 19 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice; brother, Alton Jr.; step-brother, Darrell; and brother-in-law, Steve.
