Newly retired educators will be welcomed at the noon meeting of Albert Lea Retired Educators on Sept. 12 at Americas Best Value Inn. Albert Lea Retired Educators membership is open to all retired school personnel.

The goal of the organization is to provide social connections with old colleagues, knowledge and lobby for legislation which benefits pensions, health, social security and areas related to aging.

John Kelly from Motor Inn will speak on senior tips for winter car care and maintenance and Rory Matson will speak about the upcoming Albert Lea Community Theatre play.

Legislative chair, Ed Mikulich, will provide an update on pensions. Mikulich will be honored as 2013 REAM Educator of the Year for all of his efforts locally and statewide on behalf of teachers.

The award ceremony will take place at the fall REAM conference in Red Wing Sept. 16-18.
