Glenville to host fun fall festival

The Glenville First Lutheran Church Women will host a day of fun this Saturday for their annual fall festival.

The event starts at 8 a.m., and donations will be accepted. There will be rolls and coffee until 11 a.m. There will also be baked goods for sale, raffle items available and a farmers market. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. there will be a meatball dinner. Cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 10 and free for children age 3 and younger.

The annual Hollandale Harvest Festival is this Saturday. The 30th annual Farming of Yesteryear threshing festival will be Saturday and Sunday in Kiester. Look to the Tribune on Friday for more information on both events.

Saturday

• The seventh annual Ryan “Pie” Truesdell softball tournament will be Saturday and Sunday at Snyder Fields. The first pitch will be tossed at 8 a.m. Saturday.

• Thorne Crest Retirement Community hosts its third annual 5k run/walk event. Check-in or registration will be from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.

• The Albert Lea Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to noon in the North Broadway parking lot.

• The second annual Daybreakers Kiwanis golf classic event starts at 1 p.m. at Green Lea Golf Course.

• The Marion Ross Performing Arts Center hosts a night of classic country music featuring Tony Booth and Stephanie Erdman and her Legends band at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

• A back to school bash will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Lighthouse Event Center. The event features local artists and bands. Cost is $5, and tickets are available at Marshall Street Music, Hy-Vee and Stadheim Jewelers in Albert Lea and at Coffee House on Main in Austin.

 

Sunday

• The Sunset Saddle Club horse show begins at 8 a.m. at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds. There is no cost to watch the all-day event.

• The Albert Lea American Legion hosts a breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Menu includes pancakes, sausage, fruit cup, potatoes, scrambled eggs and a beverage. Cost is $7.

• An open house for the Art & Faith exhibit at the Albert Lea Art Center will be from 1 to 3 p.m. The exhibit continues through Oct. 11. The show features faith-based art, paraments, banners, altar cloths, photography and other religious artifacts from local and nearby churches.

• Albert Lea Civic Music hosts a tribute to the Beach Boys and Broadway at 3 p.m. at the Albert Lea High School auditorium. Admission is by season ticket only; cost is $85 per family, $40 per adult and $10 for students under age 30.
