Government built this country

Everyone complains about the government, but if you live in the Midwest, chances are you get more in tax money than what you pay in, so relax knowing that you get more than you give.

Each child costs about $5,000 a year to educate. Farmers take subsidies that ruin markets for the rest of the world. Cereal manufacturers buy grain at less than the cost of production. Veterans get schooled and doctored at taxpayer expense, etc.

Folks talk about how private enterprise built America. When? Railroads were built by government loans and land given to them to pay the loan back. Interstate highways — government. Airports — government. Pharmaceutical drugs — government (National Institutes of Health). New varieties of grain and apples — government. Stocking fishing holes — government. Most regulations are written by private enterprise lobbyists trying to shut down newcomers.
