The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from noon to 8 p.m. Monday.

Heat indices are expected to reach as high as 102 degrees.

The Weather Service advised people to take extra precaution if working or spending time outside as the risk of heat-related stress and illness is increased, especially for the young, elderly, those without air conditioning and people participating in strenuous outdoor activities.

When possible, it advised rescheduling strenuous activities to early morning or evening, wearing light weight and loose-fitting clothing, and drinking plenty of water.

If you have to work outside, the Weather Service advised taking frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas.
