Help save cottage at Edgewater Park
Published 8:33 am Tuesday, September 24, 2013
I went for a walk in the park the other day, Edgewater Park. I stopped at the cottage to take in the view. Nature’s activities around me and in the trees and near the lake kept me busy and entertained. I remembered the many summer church vacation Bible schools that have been held at this Edgewater Cottage. The surrounding bandshell, pavilion and play area simply add to the beauty of Edgewater Park. So many children! Eight years they’ve celebrated God’s creation with their families spending time at this place. Fifty to 70 children every year! There is history here. There has been love here.
What will the future of the cottage be? Will it be torn down or renovated? Does your family have plans to use the cottage in the summer of 2014? Will the cottage be your place for a special day? Those are questions that need answers. You can do something before it’s too late. It’s important that you act now.
Many people have donated renovation money and their time and talents to save the Edgewater Cottage. Thirty-thousand dollars are still needed to meet the goal. Please consider donating to this! Donations of any size, big or small, are very welcomed.
Contributions are tax-deductible. You can send them to Freeborn County Chamber of Commerce Foundation and note on the memo line: Edgewater Cottage. Mail your check to 2580 Bridge Ave., Albert Lea, MN 56007.
