Help save cottage at Edgewater Park

Published 10:13 am Thursday, September 12, 2013

Greetings from the Save Edgewater Cottage Committee. We are continuing in our efforts to raise volunteers, supplies and money to indeed save the cottage. We have pledges of supplies and materials “in-kind” with a value of over $50,000. We have a number of volunteers, skilled and unskilled (like me) but can use more.

What is needed now most urgently is financial support to raise $30,000 for the items that must be purchased. We have a start on contributions and for them we are grateful. We need more. We need to be able to show the Albert Lea city council and management that we have the money and items needed to complete this project ourselves. The sum of $30,000 is our target.

If you have fond memories of the cottage as the place to go to and to be years ago when things were available for sale (pop, ice cream, candy) or for use (balls and bats, horse shoes), you should help us out with a contribution.

If you like to be able to sit on a hill, underneath many mature oak trees and a soft breeze looking out over the lake, you should help us out with a contribution.

Please consider this favorably. Contributions can be tax deductible on your income taxes. Make your check payable to Albert Lea-Freeborn County Chamber Foundation and note on the memo line: Edgewater Cottage. It can be mailed to 2580 Bridge Ave., Albert Lea MN, 56007.

If you have comments for the committee, you can call me at 373-9197. Thanks in advance for your help.
